Altmetric's Top 100 Articles of 2016


Altmetric tracks mentions of scholarly articles in the mainstream media, social media, as well as  mentions in F1000 and Mendeley. So what where the most discussed journal articles of 2016? The Zika virus is represented heavily, as well as the impacts of technology on society, public health and drug related issues.

Altmetric's Top 100 Articles of 2015

Altmetric, a company that tracks the attention academic articles receive through multiple mainstream sources, has published their annual Top 100 Articles of 2015. This doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the articles, rather it provides an indicator of what was widely discussed and shared online.




Many publishers have started using the Altmetric donut visualization (the multi-colored circle) on their websites to indicate attention a particular article has received.  You can install the free Altmetric bookmarklet on your browser and find the altmetric data for your own papers.
